Marco Alban has taken up the position of head chef at the Grand Hotel Europe, home to seven of the best restaurants, cafes and bars in St Petersburg.
Prior to coming to Russia, Marco Alban held the position of Executive Chef at the Waldorf Astoria Collection, Maldives. He was also Culinary Champion for the various Hilton brands in the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India.
Before that, he spent three years as Corporate Chef for all Orient-Express properties in Peru — five hotels and the Hiram Bingham luxury train.
He has worked at hotels including Four Seasons Hotel The Ritz in Lisbon, at hotels and restaurants in France and Switzerland affiliated with the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World association, the Relais & Chateaux hotel chain and Orient-Express hotels in Italy and Portugal.
Marco Alban studied at the Professional Hotel State Institute in Vittorio Veneto, Italy and has a diploma in Food Service Management from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, along with other hospitality management-related development courses from the same prestigious school.
Marco Alban actively participates in gastronomic festivals, mainly with Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide. He is a member of the Italian Federation of Chefs and co-founder of the Peruvian Chef Association and Academy.
Marco travels around the world to different climates and cultures to provide him with inspiration. Alban is also a great fan of new techniques and technologies. After “keep it simple,” his motto is “fusion without confusion,”
Alban is also a great admirer of the arts; he sees his move to St Petersburg as the perfect place in which to indulge his passion.
