Krakow (Cracow)
For half a millennium, Krakow was the royal capital of Poland. Nowadays it is Poland's most popular tourist destination. An architectural and cultural gem, the city has absorbed a lot of the country's history over the years. In the past a favourite haunt of scholars and artists their presence left behind a city which reflects the most important trends in European culture.
Krakow's Old Town is a charming and compact center. Its Main Market Square is surrounded by historic buildings, museums and churches.
July is a great month to visit as festivities flourish and one can see many delights from street theatre to jazz. |
